I fear that this is it. With the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) which allows the President or his designees to indefinitely detain persons whom are considered to be terrorists or subversive (without due process or access to a lawyer - FEMA camps, anyone?) and the Stop Online Piracy Act bill (SOPA) which will impose draconian penalties on accidental or fair use that is deemed (by who?) to violate copyright laws, I think this country is circling the drain when it comes to freedom. The NDAA attacks the fourth amendment & potentially the first if speech itself is seen as an act of terrorism. SOPA is an attack on first amendment rights in the guise of "protecting" corporate interests and well-meaning artists that are overprotective of their intellectual material. The internet could be heavily censored even by "free" countries like the United States & the act will definitely affect countries that are already battling censorship.

What's wrong with current copyright laws? It's like the anti-2nd amendment lobby asking for more gun laws instead of focusing on enforcing the ones on the books. This is the same only worse because it attacks the ability to speak against what could be construed as an attack on use of information.

Anonymous is definitely against the SOPA nonsense and I would wager is against the NDAA for the only reason that it could potentially be used against them.

What price is victory? Our country perhaps? Well that's how it finally played out when all was said & done. We are about to get a "Super Congress" committee of 12 people (six from each house of Congress, 3 democrats & 3 republicans ... notice that independents are shut-out) that have A LOT of power to railroad legislation through without the required floor debates and roll-call votes. It may seem to be "streamlining" the process, but rather it is borderline unconstitutional because is gives making law to a body that supersedes the constitutional process. The right to make laws cannot be given from Congress to others.

Anyway, that's only a footnote to the bigger financial problem that we face. The craptacular debt bill that has finally been ratified and signed into law basically kicks the can down the road without any significant spending cuts or means of revenue. Watch below as one former policy maker discusses how our distaste for considering our sacred cows will lead us into Greece within three years unless we reverse course.

Although I'm not totally convinced that these so-called "FEMA Camps" are nefarious (see one of my earlier blogs where I chastise Glenn Beck for completely blowing them off as unsubstantiated conspiracy theory), there is no doubt that they exist, that they are currently being used, and there is always the unfortunate possibility for them to be misused. This is the full-version of the TruTV show "Conspiracy Theory" with Jesse Ventura. This episode was BANNED by TruTV after pressure from some entities in the government. Obviously, former-Governor Ventura got a little too close for somebody's comfort.

The Beginning of the End of the Free Internet . . . Unless . . .

As if considering ending "net neutrality" and proposing licensing people before they can have an website/blog/account where they can express their first amendment rights wasn't enough, the internet is now embroiled in a global "cyberwar" over the pressure being put on the organization "Wikileaks." Are they heroes or villains? Traitors or patriots of humanity? Terrorists or freedom fighters? Although only time will fully answer these questions, my concern is how the U.S. government (as well as others) and financial institutions are using this crisis to 1) consider and/or propose legislation to bring the internet under government control AND 2) punish an institution for what constitutes whistleblowing.

Yes, they may not be angels (although whether release of the information will compromise the United States or its allies remains to be seen) they are still the primary vehicle for people to anonymously pass on information that may prove governments complacent in murder, gratuitous espionage (on allies!), manipulation of facts, terrorism, and human rights abuses.

Jesse Ventura said (paraphrased) - I love my country, but I don't always love my government. I echo that sentiment.

If laws were broken, then go after the the lawbreakers. But once information is in the public domain, any attack on the "messenger" (e.g. Wikileaks in this case) will be seen as an attack on freedom of speech and the free internet.

As a result, the group "Anonymous" is now formulating Operation Avenge Assange under the broader Operation Payback that is an attack on financial institutions and other entities that are interfering with Wikileaks either by denying them services or dropping their financial relationship with them. That these same entities are also potential responsible for the horrible economic downturn that is shattering so many families and businesses may or may not be a coincidence.

If you remember from January 2008 , Anonymous is the collective organization of activists, hackers, and p.o.'d average citizens that attacked the Church of Scientology because they tried to claim a copyright infringement on the dissemination of a video showing Tom Cruise saying some pretty fanatical views about Scientology's worth in society. The result was numerous online exposes and protests at Church of Scientology locations that brought much unwanted attention to some of their questionable practices.

Since Anonymous is a collective of individuals with varying motives, scruples, and capabilities, their tactics have varied from the questionable to the noble to the just plain childish. However, they are overall simply an organization devoted to the protection of freedom of information especially having to do with internet access. Whether you agree with their tactics, you must agree that they are fighting for what all true patriots believe in . . . freedom of speech.

Benjamin Franklin once said, "They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Yet, that is what we are doing on a daily basis. Cameras at many intersections . . . legislation threatening to curb fourth amendment liberties regarding required court orders before police search & seizures . . . virtual strip searches and physical pat-downs by under-trained Transportation Security Agency goons (which is government policing private transportation venues) . . . police brutality during arrests.

When 9/11 happened, I was shocked & dismayed like so many others. I even bought the fear-mongering that led to one semi-justified war (Afghanistan) and one unjustified one (Iraq). And although I am not officially a 9/11 Truther since I don't subscribe to the "inside job" conspiracy theories, I do believe that the U.S. government is lying about what really led up to that day & even to some degree what exactly happened on that day. And there is now no doubt in my mind that the anti-freedom minded factions of the government used that horrible tragedy to perpetuate what is now becoming the instrument to control the American people.

And THEY said . . . Continue as if everything is normal . . . if we do not change our behavior to submit to fear, then we will defeat the terrorists.But our government did not do as they told us to, and as a result, we HAVE lost precious freedoms thanks to our response to the 9/11 attacks among others.

All right, I don't usually post just to promote a television show, but I'm a big fan of Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura on TruTV. I think the topics are interesting and well-researched, and the information is both vital to our understanding of how our government misrepresents the facts AND entertaining.

The show features my favorite radio show broadcaster, Alex Jones, who provides additional insight into certain topics.

Yes, it's sometimes a bit over the top . . . but even so, it is time for some real concern - especially considering that the issues brought up by the show can be sustantiated by other sources.

Recently on the Alex Jones show, Alex encouraged listeners to google "The Obama Deception" in order to allow the hit meter on the Google website to list it as most popular. However, When I went to YouTube to check out the video, it had been "removed by user."

This seems very suspicious when taken with the fact that the Alex Jones Facebook page was removed due to (supposedly) the "Gadsen Flag" being displayed on the page.

The Next Great Depression . . .

There have been signs of life in the economy since the Bush-Obama bailout measures. That would be great if this were a bona fide recovery where people are going back to work, consumer spending is back to normal, and deficit spending is being brought under control. However, none of the above is happening to a large degree which would indicate an "artificial" or temporary recovery. One that is being propped up by fiat money being poured into the economy causing the devaluation of the dollar. Property values are falling causing a lower tax base across the country which leaves local governments (including schools, police, fire, sanitation, transportation) to fend for themselves.

Meanwhile, the fat cats in Washington are passing more useless legislation that does nothing to prevent another economic downturn. Even worse, laws are being passed to limit civil liberties including giving the president broad power over the internet. The fairness doctrine has reared its ugly head again. There are laws meant to prevent people from videotaping police or even public places.

Some sobering words from the Holy Bible. Not that the oil spill is necessarily what this verse alludes to, but I find it quite sobering that the photos taken of the oil spill on the surface of the Gulf of Mexico waters eerily appear as blood.

Obviously this is a horrific ecological and economic disaster (and not to forget the deaths of the employees that were working on the oil rig when it exploded!) Whether this will be "Obama's Katrina" remains to be seen, but even if the oil leakage were stopped tomorrow, the damage has already been done.

The video directly below is a speech given by a woman from Louisiana who was permitted to sit in on some of the meetings when they discussed the oil spill disaster and the mitigation efforts. She has some credible accusations about how those in charge of the clean-up (which is obviously the Federal Government and BP since they won't let local authorities do anything without being on a leash) are stonewalling efforts and showboating for media while the problem goes unresolved.

It's bad enough that we bail out U.S. private institutions such as banks and automobile companies while padding the economy with fake solutions like "cash for clunkers" and the like. However, we are now treading into dangerous territory with money being funneled into the International Monetary Fund to help prop up foreign economies and banks! California is going bankrupt, New York and Michigan aren't that far behind, and unemployment is steadily getting worse (10.2% in Florida for example). Now BOTH our schools and the military are becoming inadequately funded. We're scrapping the space program. And if all of this were not bad enough, there is a concerted effort to downgrade our civil liberties as outlined in the United States Constitution. David Rockefeller is correct . . . we are indeed only one major crisis away from instituting a New World Order. The only question is - which one will it be? Will it be financial meltdown, terrorist attack (legitimate or false flag), an epidemic, or a new war? Pick your poison it seems to me. It's Bilderberg Group meeting time . . . in Greece (how ironic!)

On May 14-17, 2010, the secretive talking heads known as the Bilderberg Group will be meeting again. The meeting place will be in the same country that is experiencing a financial meltdown due to the overspending of its government - Greece. As a result, austerity measures including the elimination of pensions, reduction of salaries and other benefits, and the raising of taxes is causing protests and riots throughout the country. Well now, isn't that interesting! Even though I believe it was the socialist economics and policies that got Greece into such a mess, I do sympathize with the people who are being forced to accept without any say the draconian economic measures that will no doubt plunge the country (and by proxy possibly Austria, Germany, Ireland, Romania, and a few others that have invested in this countries finances) into an economic depression. In other words, the cure may kill the patient before the disease can. What's worse? With all the socialist "reforms" that President Obama and Congress are pushing through (i.e. Socialized Health Care, Cap & Trade, Fairness Doctrine, expansion of government) we will soon become something close to what Greece is (or was). Is this 1929 all over again, especially after what happened on Thursday, May 6th? Listen to this video from MSNBC where they mention the possibility of market manipulation causing the almost 1000 point drop and subsequent "miraculous" rebound.

Hang on to your hats folks (and your wallets if you can). This isn't over by a long shot. Now, the United States is proposing handing over billions to Greece as well. Hmmm . . .

The fourth amendment to the U.S. Constitution guarantees that we will not be subjected to illegal search and seizure. That means that we don't have to worry about law enforcement surveilling us, searching ourselves or our property, or confiscating our belongings (including forcing us to submit a blood or tissue sample) without probable cause of a crime AND without due process of law. Well, that's all about to go out the window.

John Walsh, as you may remember, tragically lost his son at the hands of a child abductor many years ago. He has dedicated his life to stopping crime and protecting children all over the country. Although I admire him, I'm afraid that what is being proposed in the following video is an example of what happens when good people go too far. Watch and decide!

Previewing notes: This is a video created by the talk show host Alex Jones. Although it focuses primarily on how President Obama has pulled a bait-and-switch on the American people, the film is also an indictment of the policies of President G.W. Bush. It also presents how President Bush and Congress played a part in the theft of taxpayer money. If you don't want to sit through the almost 2-hour video (although I think it is important to see the whole thing at least once), I suggest to view the first 10-minutes or so, then fast-forward to the 1:23:40 point where the film goes into his theories on how the New World Order will seek to take control of America. Whether you believe in the NWO or not, it is still eerie how much this video gets right about what is currently going on now. This is definitely more than conspiracy theory drivel! Also feel free to research the claims that this video presents. You will find that ALL of the claims of this video can be substantiated and those items that have not yet come to pass have only failed to do so because of the exposure and opposition of people to them.

The National Emergency Centers Act HR 645 (or Why Glenn Beck is wrong)

Now, I happen to like Glenn Beck. Some in the extreme "conspiracy theory" ranks consider him a government shill at worst and a slave to the left-right paradigm at best. I have even been angry at some of his ignorance at times. But, call him what you will, he still is ONE of those who are making an attempt to get the word out about how the government is corroding our freedoms and attempting to bypass the Constitution.

However, one of my issues with Glenn Beck is the fact that he sent an "expert" to analyze the feasibility of what are known as "FEMA camps," and stated that he could not debunk them. However, he seemed to do a 180 and now denies the fact there is credible evidence of their existence (both in proposals and physical evidence of them being already implemented).

Now, the PURPOSE of these facilities is still a bone of contention. After the Katrina fiasco, thousands of people without a place to go wandered southern Louisiana until they were directed to the Superdome facility. There, overcrowding caused people to die for lack of food, water, and medical care. The unsanitary, cramped conditions appalled everyone. There was plenty of blame to go around, President Bush, FEMA, local authorities . . . but there was no doubt that it was imperative that this never happened again. So I do understand why the government would want to plan ahead. Especially in this age of terrorism.

However, after the many times in history that oppressive governments (or even free ones - remember the Japanese internments or the forcing of Native Americans onto reservations) have rounded up and detained citizens for various reasons, there is reason to fear. Think Apartheid, ghettos, concentration camps, forced relocations, etc. Even when the initial intentions are good, as in after a natural disaster, the potential for misuse is there. I simply just want the truth to be known so that people can hold the government accountable and ensure that they are telling the whole truth.

Flu bug, go away!

I might have had the SWINE FLU! I went to Sea World for my vacation a couple of weeks ago. Didn't feel like riding any rides (yep something was definitely wrong if I didn't feel like riding). Had a scratchy throat and a little fatigue, but thought it was just a cold. By the evening, I felt really bad - weakness, loss of appetite, headache, and slight fever. By the next morning, I had a high fever, more weakness, chills, muscle pain, congestion, and just feeling like garbage!

Needless to say, if I had had these symptoms the day before we left, I would have stayed home. Did I have it? Not sure. I went to the doctor and he did some blood tests that were negative for a bacterial infection and negative for Influenza A (if the latter were positive that would be an indication of H1N1 if I'm not mistaken). So, I may not have had it after all although there is a potential for false negative results.

A co-worker of my husband's died of the H1N1 flu that weekend, too, so needless to say for a while we were both quite apprehensive. Whatever I had, he got it too. Yeah, I ruined his birthday and our anniversary by getting the flu, but what can I do . . . ?

Anyway, here is some information from USA Today about the flu [here] (note that the animation is the "official version" of how it began and spread.) Is the illness overhyped? Probably. Was the illness manufactured (intentionally or not) by a pharmaceutical, military, or government entity? No way to know for sure, but some experts have alluded to that possibility.

Now, the government is rushing the drug companies to manufacture a vaccine. Is the cure worse than the disease? Maybe yes - maybe no. However, under no circumstances should the vaccine be forced on people. Such would go against the U.S. Constitution (4th amendment if I'm not mistaken although the 10th amendment would also apply if the vaccine was federally mandated).

Welcome!

As I am writing this, Congress is preparing to recess for the summer. Good - I think they have done plenty of damage in the last 6 months (not to mention the last 8+ years).

Although I have always been a lifelong Democrat, I am disturbed by how the government over the last eight years and now over the last six months have sought to bypass the U. S. Constitution. With President Bush 2000-2008 it began with the Patriot Act, a questionable war (I want to get the terrorists just as much as anyone, but why the detour into Iraq?), Abu-Ghab and Guantanamo, NAFTA & the superhighway nonsense, the proliferation of the North American Union, and concluded with the black hole known as the bailout. Now with President Obama, we have the same policies that we had before: NAFTA/NAU nightmare, wars, continued Patriot Act freedom-sapping, more bailouts without any accountability, and more questionable lobbyist appointments. PLUS - Now we have to deal with the Fairness Doctrine, Federal takeover of our water supply, potential Swine Flu forced vaccinations, FEMA camps(?), Cap and Trade, increased taxes, socialized health care AND more unemployment.

Anyway, after years of trusting the government (believing its presentation of evidence on the 9-11 terrorist attack, weapons of mass destruction, America does not torture, the Patriot Act being necessary to protect us, etc.) I have finally realized that the reality that we are presented is not what is actually going on.

Why the change in perception? Because of my Christian eschatological belief that one of the landmarks that would lead to the End Times (Yes, yes, I know no one knows the time, but there are signs . . .) is the installation of a one world government.

Now, it seems that something to that effect may be happening. Note that I say MAY. If I had lived at the time of World War 2 and watched in horror as the evil Axis powers (with their imperialism, eugenics, brutality, rabid nationalism and dehumanization of their fellow man among other terrors) spread across Europe & Asia I would have believed then that the world was about to fall into the Tribulation if not already there.

So, again, perhaps this is just another hiccup - another birth pang on the journey to the ultimate end. But if you are a believer in the Bible (even a liberal believer) you have to admit that if the North American Union truly becomes a reality, then we are closer than ever to what may be the proverbial End.

So to conclude my first blog now that I have been "awakened" or "have taken the red pill" or "refused the kool-aid" so to speak, I am now more cautious about trusting the higher ups . . . even a left-leaning, pro-diplomacy, transparent government proponent, let's get the troops out, close Guatanamo now, America does not torture politician like President Obama.
